IceLab Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellowships

Researchers can now apply with projects by June 4, 2026 at 15:00 to the IceLab Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Programme 2026, financed by Kempestiftelserna. The programme funds shared postdocs to build new collaborations and develop ideas within Stress Response Modeling—with the call for postdoctoral fellows opening in July.

IceLab Camp

Early career researchers can now apply to join IceLab Camp by June 10, 2026. Camp is an international, multidisciplinary research course meant to initiate PhD students and postdocs in the process of preparing interdisciplinary research proposals and launching new collaborations. Held September 29 to October 2nd, 2026, in Granö, the course offers 2 ECTS and is free to attend.

Interested researchers from beyond Umeå can apply for research visits in IceLab. We offer an arena for realizing interdisciplinary collaborative projects on modeling adaptive mechanisms in living systems under stress and cover visit costs.

We are roughly 60 researchers physically located at IceLab or in one of the nearby associated Umeå University departments, though our collaborative network extends far beyond.

IceLab research shares a common feature: an application of mathematical modeling techniques to scientific questions. By adopting a quantitative approach, our researchers can communicate across disciplines and identify new and exciting opportunities for collaborations and discovery.
