Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability

WISE - Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability - is the largest-ever investment in materials science in Sweden and encompasses major efforts at Sweden's foremost universities. Umeå University is one of eight participating universities. We take part in various initiatives funded and organised through WISE.

You can read more about the research groups below, as well as finding more information about current calls and initiatives.

WISE Research Master’s Thesis

“WISE Research Master’s Thesis”, is a new research preparatory initiative designed for Master’s students in engineering and natural sciences.

The initiative aims to encourage students to pursue doctoral studies in the field of materials science for sustainability. Selected students will receive a stipend and, during the final year of their Master’s studies, become affiliated with a WISE-relevant research group.
